Values

Women's Health Rights

Christina values equality, self-determination, and dignity for all women. She believes in ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare, including reproductive services. She recognizes that women's health decisions are deeply personal and should not be unjustly limited by the government. Christina supports policies that guarantee access to contraception, maternal healthcare, and abortion services.

LGBTQ+ Rights

As a social worker, Christina has provided affirming therapeutic support to individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. She believes in promoting all spaces to be gender affirming spaces for this population. Christina supports policies and practices that embody inclusivity and are gender-affirming, including access to hormone replacement therapy and other treatments and utilizing preferred pronouns and names.

Access to Mental Health Services

Having lived experience with mental health conditions, Christina personally understands the importance of having access to treatment services. She is currently a mental health clinician for youth and adults who seek therapy for challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, and PTSD. Christina also serves as a board member for the Oakland county community mental healthy agency, which ensures that individuals with Medicaid coverage or who are underinsured, are able to access support services for intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.

Investing in the Next Generation

Christina deeply cares about the growth of the next generation of leaders and recognizes the potential of young people to shape the future and drive positive change in society. She believes in programs that invest in youth empowerment, education, and opportunities to foster leadership skills. Christina understands that young leaders bring innovative ideas and a deep commitment to social justice and equity. As County Commissioner, Christina will work to include these voices in decisions and support policies that do the same.

Safety and Anti-Violence

As a mental health clinician, Christina is trained in evidence-based practices for treating trauma symptoms. In her personal history, she witnessed her mother survive domestic violence and she experienced teen dating violence herself. Christina has treated youth and adults who have survived similar traumatic experiences. She worked part time in a Pontiac elementary school and helped as part of a mental health response team when a 7 year old in the city was killed by gun violence.  Just months before this was the Oxford High School shooting. Our Oakland County communities have suffered in unimaginable ways due to gun violence. Christina supports policies and programs that keep all people safe.  She believes in implementing gun violence prevention measures that also respect Second Amendment rights and individual liberties. As County Commissioner, Christina will prioritize investing in evidence-based and community-based violence intervention programs. Christina will also encourage the development of mental health services that address the root causes of violence.
